Focus on Sport Horses (FOSH) and Go West Equestrian, LLC (GWE) is thrilled to announce David Arthur Vineyards as the Title Sponsor of the Official Presentation of Horses during the Elite Event Horse Auction (EEHA!). As part of The Event Derby® (TED) series, EEHA! features high quality sport horses ready to move forward in their show career with a new owner. These horses must be pre-vetted and provide current radiographs. Viewing of the horses begins Sunday, March 27th during TED show at Galway Downs. Potential buyers will be able to see entered horses perform dressage and jumping, over a mixture of stadium and cross-country fences. The auction’s beneficiary is the Southern California Equestrian Sports (SCES), a non-profit organization assisting national and international level competitors.
The Official Presentation of Horses capstones the auction on Thursday, March 31st at the Galway Downs International Horse Trials, hosted at the Southern California Equestrian Center in Temecula, CA. During the presentation, buyers, spectators and competitors alike will be privy to a wine and hors d’hoeuvres party hosted by representatives from the SCES and GWE. Wine will be provided by the award winning David Arthur Vineyards, a rare and exclusive treat for participants.
David Arthur Vineyards, located on Pritchard Hill in the vineyard perfect Napa Valley, has wowed wine enthusiasts since 1985 when they released their first chardonnay. It did not take long for vintner David Arthur Long to realize that the elevation of nearly 1200 feet and the soil were perfect for growing Cabernet Sauvignon. By the late 1990s, David Arthur was producing world class wines, including the 1997 vintage Elevation 1147 (named for the elevation where the grapes are grown). That year, the 1147 rated 99 points in Wine Spectator making it the highest rated of any wines that year, earning David Arthur Vineyards the title “Vintage of the Century”. Their wines continue to earn awards the world over with their signature Meritaggio, Cabernet Sauvignon and Elevation 1147, all made from grapes grown on Pritchard Hill. Their limited batches of Chardonnay and the newer introduction of Sauvignon Blanc grow in the cooler climates of the Oak Knoll district and Yountville.
Attendees of the Official Presentation of Horses will be taste the newly released Sauvignon Blanc, along with the vineyards signature creation Meritaggio, Merlot and Elevation 1147. That such an elite vineyard should title sponsor the Elite Event Horse Auction seems a perfect “meritage”, blending a “heritage” of fabulous wine and horses with the “merit” both have earned through industry excellence.
